To get my tumblr to work with a subdomain (blog.kamvek.com) so that I could still use the domain (kamvek.com) in the future was a HUGE pain. I found some tutorials but they didn’t have screen shots and were mostly outdated. This is why I chose to make my own and hopefully, it’ll help someone.
The first step is to add a subdomain to your site. I use godaddy.com as my host so these instructions are specific for their menu system.
Log into godaddy.com and click on “My Account” on the menu bar.
Under “MY PRODUCTS” click on Web Hosting

Then click the Launch Button
You will be adding a subdomain so you need to enter the domain menu. Click on the “Domains” button. A window similar to the one below should appear. Click the manage button under the subdomains column.
Then click Add Subdomain. A window similar to the one below should appear. Enter what you would like the subdomain to be called and click OK. For this tutorial I will create the example subdomain.
The Domain window should be available again. The status for the subdomain should be “Pending” as it is for my “example” subdomain. Once it changes to “Setup” as it is for my “blog” subdomain you are ready to move on to the next step.
2. Link subdomain to tumblr.com.
3. Tell tumblr where it’s being linked from.
Time to go to sleep, I’ll update with detailed text and screen shots later.
